Ibiza LeisureIbiza is home to all the beach and water sports you can imagine, providing visitors with something to do during the day while they wait for the clubs to open. Naturally, the beaches provide the main source of activity, whether it’s simply lounging in the sand and working on the all-important suntan or wandering up and down admiring the views. BeachesThe most popular and crowded beaches are Playa Talamanca in the north and Figueretas in the south. The best beaches are connected by boat service and buses and nudity is common. Playa San Antonio is often so overcrowded in the summer months that it is sometimes difficult even to find a spot to lay your towel down. Water sportsWater sports abound, there are plenty of shops that rent equipment and provide instruction. The winds off the Ibiza coast are not very strong, which makes for ideal conditions to learn how to windsurf. There is a small windsurfing school near Ibiza Town that gives lessons and rents out boards. However, sailing is perhaps the most popular activity around the island and the sailing here attracts a lot of experienced sailors. Diving and SnorkellingDiving and snorkelling in the clear waters around the island is another great way to spend some time. Conditions are ideal, with clean, calm waters and a huge variety of marine life below the surface. Scuba diving courses are available for first timers and those wishing to dive in the deeper waters. Snorkelling is an easier and cheaper option and still provides views of life under the sea. Motorised water sports are extremely popular here and include everything from paragliding behind a speedboat to waterskiing and jet-skiing. The calmer option of sea kayaking is another great, relaxing way to explore the waters. HikingIf you get tired of all that water, there are plenty of things to do on land. The hilly regions in the hinterlands of Ibiza offer some nice hiking opportunities and even some interesting trails for mountain biking. There are several horseback riding centres on the island, with excellent facilities for beginners and experts. There are some wonderful scenic riding trails that you can explore under the guidance of an instructor. Golf is also a major sport on Ibiza and the Balearic Islands are home to some incredibly beautiful courses. Lessons are available at most of the courses as well as club rentals.
