Ibiza has a wide range of accommodation covering the island, with everything from budget hotels, hostels and pensions to luxurious five-star resorts. Yet despite the sheer number of rooms on the island, things can get very busy during the peak summer season, so making reservations is highly recommended.

Hotel locations

There are several key areas on the island where people tend to stay. Ibiza Town is the commercial hub of the island, yet most people prefer to stay at one of the nearby resorts. On the edge of Ibiza Town, in Playa des Figueretas, there are a number of newly built beach hotels, but these are often fully booked by tour groups during the summer. 

The north coast is another nice location, with its lovely countryside, secluded coves and minimal crowds. There are fewer hotels here than anywhere else, but it is home to Ibiza’s finest resort, the five-star Hacienda, located above Na Xamena Bay. San Antonio is the most popular area for tour groups and unless you are looking for a loud, party atmosphere, it’s advisable to avoid this place during the peak season. 

One of the most authentic places to stay is in Santa Eulalia, about 14kms south of Ibiza Town. Relatively free from the commercialism seen elsewhere on the island, this artsy riverside community offers some good lodging and often has vacancies.

Hotel costs

Due to its massive popularity, especially with group tours, Ibiza is not the cheapest destination in Europe. Rooms are often overpriced and it’s nearly impossible to find a vacant room during the summer season. Consider visiting during the low season, when crowds are manageable, prices reasonable and the weather is still delightfully fine.
