Ibiza TransportIbiza is a small island with a good road system, which makes getting around all of the quaint hideaways and raging party zones easy. Ibiza has several bus lines which serve every corner of Ibiza Town as well as many other parts of the island. Renting a car, motorbike or bicycle is another great way to see the sights of the island. Mopeds are especially popular in the southern part of the island. They are cheap to rent and can access many places that are hard to get to by car. The winding roads of Ibiza are fun to drive and offer some wonderful scenery. By busThe local bus service between the larger towns on Ibiza is excellent and there are even some good connections to the smaller towns and villages on the island. At the weekend, bus services are less frequent, so be sure to plan your trip carefully. There is even a special all-night ‘disco bus’, which makes a continuous circle around the island’s major nightclubs. The buses on Ibiza are usually orange. The two main bus terminals in Ibiza Town are at Avenue Isidor Macabich 20 and 42. From these terminals, buses run to destinations all over the island and to many beaches. By taxiTaxis are a convenient and practical way to get to all points on the island. All of the taxis are metered and start at a basic fare. Expect additional charges for baggage, services at night and public holidays.
Tourist servicesThe infamous ‘disco bus’, which runs all night in a continuous circuit around the island’s biggest nightclubs, is a testimony to the priorities on Ibiza. This is the only special tourist service offered, but if you are staying in Ibiza Town, it is easy and convenient to walk wherever you want to go, especially within the Old Town section. Getting to and from the airportsGetting from the airport to Ibiza Town is quick and simple. Regular bus services from the airport are the most economical way to get to the towns around the island. These buses run from 07:00 until 22:35 and the travel time to Ibiza Town is around 30 minutes. Taxis are also an easy way to travel. They wait outside the terminal building to whisk passengers into Ibiza in about 20 minutes. Taxis will also take you to Playa d’en Bossa, San Antonio, Santa Eulalia, San Jose and San Juan. Car hire is also a good option. Avis, Betacar Ibiza, Centauro, Hertz and Tui Cars all have offices in the Arrivals area of the terminal. With roads well-signed, it is easy to find your way to Ibiza Town and other areas of the island. The main access road is the PM-801 motorway, which leads directly to the airport. You can also use the PM-803 motorway and take the exit at kilometre-4. Another way to get to Ibiza Town is to take the Carretera del Aeropuerto past San Jose and into the city. There are more than enough signs to ensure you don’t get lost during the 20-minute ride.
