Granada Leisure
Granada has a privileged position at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and offers great alternatives from the huge city attractions during the wintertime, namely skiing. Granada also offers good golfing and air sports, while hiring a bicycle and scouting out the Albaicín area can be a delightful experience.
Winter sports
If you are here in the winter months, the Estación Sierra Nevada is one of Spain’s foremost ski resorts, with dozens of runs and a great ski village. There are 45 slopes here of varying difficulty, which add up to nearly 40 miles of downhill runs. The highest slope is over 10,000 feet and there are 20 ski lifts, while many hotels, restaurants and bars provide accommodation and sustenance.
Golf
Those into golf can enjoy the sport year-round, with quality courses and facilities available. Perhaps the two best courses in Granada are the 18-hole Campo de Las Gabias and the 11-hole Los Moriscos Golf. Equipment rental and restaurants are available at both venues.
Granada is also perfect country for air sports, where the loftiness of the terrain in and around Granada introduces powerful thermals that make for spectacular sightseeing. If you want to go swimming try the Piscina Miami pool, while those interested in horseback riding should try the Cuadras del Albaicín.
