Granada Restaurants
Walk into virtually any bar in Granada and you will invariably get free tapas accompanying your drink. Dining experiences in Granada range from this simple novelty to fine restaurants serving traditional Spanish fare and international dining.
Local cuisine
Local specialities worth trying in Granada include the puff pastry with meat, pine nuts and almonds, a concoction known as bastela, which is often served with crema de almendras (almond cream soup). You could wash this down with a glass or two of un costa, a local Granada wine, which is more like a sherry. Kebab shops are also a popular feature on the Granada dining scene, while Moorish restaurants are also a big hit.
Where to eat
The majority of Granada’s restaurants can be found to the southeast of the Cathedral and the city centre, with the greatest concentration of tapas bars around Plaza Campo del Príncipe and C/Navas. Bodega Espadafor, Bodegas Castañeda and Cunini are among the more popular tapas bars. For ambience and choice of eateries, the Albaicín area is hard to beat.
One great aspect of dining in Granada is that many restaurants offer fine views of La Alhambra including the Huerto de Juan Ranas and the Mirador de Aixa.
