Barcelona Weather
Barcelonas weather is very much influenced by the Mediterranean climate, enjoying mild winters and some scorching hot summer days. Thankfully these are tempered by cool sea breezes.
Winter - Spring
The cool winters between November and March bring temperatures as low as 4C but usually above 10C. Visitors to the city during these months are advised to bring a warm sweater or waterproof jacket as Mediterranean winters are usually wet. From March onwards the weather warms up quite quickly and although February is the worst month for winter weather, with cold snaps coming down from the Pyrenees, there are quite often warm spells in January.
Summer - Autumn
During the summer, Barcelona enjoys a temperate climate with average maximum temperatures of 26C but it can get up to a sweltering 37C and become unpleasantly humid if there is no breeze. The higher ground behind the city, tends to be somewhat cooler. Rainfall is low in the summer with sunny days usually guaranteed. However there can be occasional thunderstorms in September and October. May is a pleasant month to be in Barcelona, with the weather being warm but not too hot.
