Sao Paulo Weather

The climate of Sao Paulo may not be as good as other Brazilian cities, but it is warm and sunny enough by world standards. The weather remains mild to warm all year round; however, it can get very hot during the summer months. There can also be heavy rain during this period, and the city is prone to flooding. The winters are cooler and considerably drier.

Summer

Sao Paulo's summers are from November through to March, and are generally hot and humid. The temperature during the daytime is usually around 25°C to 30°C, but it can climb considerably higher. The summertime also sees the most rain, particularly during December and January, when heavy rain occurs most afternoons. This can cause floods in the lowest parts of the centre and near to the Tietê River. Traffic can be disrupted, so allow yourself plenty of time if you have to catch a plane or a bus.

Cool winters

The climate is more temperate in the spring and autumn, with temperatures several degrees cooler. The lowest temperatures during the winter are usually experienced in July, although it rarely gets uncomfortably cold. You still need to bring some warm clothes if you visit during this period.
