Buenos Aires Weather
In Argentina, the seasons are the reverse of those experienced north of the equator. This means that spring in Buenos Aires occurs from September to November and autumn from March through May. December is mid-summer, but visitors will still find it mostly pleasant at this time. By January and February it starts to get hot and humid, with temperatures reaching 38°C. While you won’t see snow in Buenos Aires from June to August, which is wintertime, the weather is often overcast, damp and chilly.
Buenos Aires climate
Buenos Aires’ climate can be best described as mild all year round, as the city, by its location, is influenced by warm ocean currents. The annual mean temperature is 18ºC, so extremely cold or hot days are infrequent. Visitors to the city can enjoy being outside most times of the year. However, it does get considerably cooler in July, which is the coldest month of the winter, when temperatures can range from 3º to 8ºC.
In summer, the heat and humidity rise, with a mean temperature of 28ºC. Night-time temperatures are usually a bit lower. Average annual rainfall is 45.1 inches, and rains are more frequent in the spring and the autumn. However, even at these times, the rains are mild and usually last for a short time, so they don’t often hamper outside activities.

Best times to visit
Most people agree that the best time to visit Buenos Aires is in the spring, during October and November. The jacaranda trees are in bloom, and the city’s streets and parks are coloured by the purple blooms. The weather is at its best, making it very pleasant to explore the city on foot. It is also a time that sees lower numbers of visitors, making it less crowded than mid-summer or during the Christmas holidays.
