Be Safe in Rotorua

There is nothing to be worried about in terms of health and safety when visiting Rotorua. The city is generally very safe and there are excellent medical facilities.

New Zealand is one of the safest places to visit and the country thrives on this reputation. A visit to Rotorua should be entirely safe; nevertheless, tourists are always reminded not to carry large amounts of cash or jewellery with them.

Health

Rotorua has excellent medical facilities, so there is nothing to worry about should you need medical attention. At least one pharmacy is open until late at night, where prescriptions can be purchased. Travelling to New Zealand does not require specific inoculations against disease; however, all visitors are encouraged to ensure that their inoculations for MMR, diphtheria, tetanus and Hepatitis B are up-to-date.

Travel insurance

Visitors who travel to New Zealand are encouraged to purchase a comprehensive travel insurance policy that covers medical emergencies, property loss, cancellation or delay of flights and emergency evacuation.
