Queenstown Restaurants
There are as many eateries in Queenstown as there are drinking establishments, although many bars also double as eating options. The choice is very good, with numerous sandwich bars, coffee houses, a food court and full-blown, bring-your-own (BYO) restaurants, where you can take in your own alcohol for a nominal corkage fee. The quality and price of food in Queenstown is also very good owing to the stiff competition.
Local cuisine
Seafood dishes are the main speciality in Queenstown, washed down with lashings of locally-produced wines. Traditional English fare is also on the menu in virtually every restaurant, with fish ‘n’ chips, pies and succulent Sunday roasts available. Lebanese cuisine is also popular in Queenstown as well as vegetarian food and all-you-can-eat buffets, while several burger joints and fast-food places are also available.
Where to eat
Many eateries in Queenstown are seasonal, with al fresco establishments on the waterfront which are suitable for summer dining and cosy winter restaurants with log fires that are just the thing during the ski season. Two prominent and very different dining venues are O’Connell’s Shopping Centre, with its indoor food court, and the Skyline Gondola Restaurant, with its unbeatable views, lunch and evening buffets. Wherever you are in the city, you will never be far from a good eatery.
