Seattle Weather

Seattle has a warm, temperate climate with temperatures moderated by the sea. The Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges shelter the area from harsh winds and heavy storms.

Spring and summer

Spring in Seattle has mild weather but rainy spells can also occur during this season. Summer lasts from June through September and the city experiences warm, sunny days and a fresh climate, with long dry periods, particularly in July and early August.

June to August are the warmest months of the year, with summer temperatures averaging about 75F.

Autumn and winter

Autumn often brings delightful weather and during September and October the temperature is mild, even though cool evenings can occur. Winter lasts from November through to March, with the coldest months being December, January and February, when daytime temperatures can drop to around 45F. This is also the wettest time of the year and snow is most likely to fall in January and February.

Seattle does have a reputation for wet weather, but in fact the citys annual rainfall is only 37 inches although Seattle can often be overcast.
