Be Safe in Seattle

Seattle is by and large a safe city to visit and tourists wont feel at risk or intimidated when walking down the streets at daytime or after nightfall. However, as with the majority of popular destinations, the city does come with its share of criminals and undesirable elements and its recommended to adhere to some basic courses of action to ensure that you dont fall victim to them.

Safety

Steer clear of isolated areas, particularly at night, and dont venture into public parks after sunset unless theres a concert or similar event that will attract a crowd. When walking on the street, dont carry valuables with you and keep cameras or other expensive electronic equipment in your bag or covered up when not in use. When youre using a map, try to look at it unassumingly or even better, consult it before leaving your room. Dont let go of your pocketbook, and keep your wallet in an inside pocket. In restaurants, theatres and other public places, dont let your possessions out of sight. Lock your room door at all times, and dont take for granted that once youre inside your hotel you are automatically safe and no longer need to be aware of your surroundings. The public has access to most hotels, and in a large property security may not be able to monitor everyone who enters.
