San Jose Weather

Boasting a Mediterranean climate that is not unlike that of the Costa Del Sol on the south coast of Spain, San Jose can be enjoyed at any time of the year. Perhaps the best aspect of a visit to San Jose is that it experiences little rain, being sheltered from the wetter San Francisco Bay area by mountains. As a consequence, it also does not suffer from the fog that much of the bay area does.

San Jose microclimates

One thing that San Jose shares with the rest of the bay area is its microclimates, where different parts of the city are affected by the weather in different ways. For instance, downtown San Jose sees little rainfall, while just to the south of the city, it is wetter and hotter. It is of course hottest in summer in San Jose and June to September is the driest period.

Green winters

Winter sees the highest amount of rainfall in San Jose and is therefore the lushest time of the year. Snowfall sometimes occurs on the surrounding mountains, particularly so on nearby Mount Hamilton.
