Transportation to San Francisco

San Francisco International Airport is the point of entry for most international travellers, and is one of the major trans-Pacific air hubs on the west coast. Located just 14 miles from downtown, the airport is connected to the city by taxi, shuttle bus and the impressive BART public transport network. San Francisco also has regular bus connections to nearly every American town, and several of Amtraks train lines stop here. Driving to San Francisco is also an easy proposition since it lies at the crossroads of several major Interstate highways.

This city is absolutely packed with things to see and do, ranging from outdoor excursions to cultural performances. Each of San Franciscos distinct neighbourhoods offers something interesting for the visitor, from the Italian cuisine of North Beach to the haggard remnants of the Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury. Northern California is home to the famous wineries of Napa and Sonoma Valley, some of the finest beaches on the coast and forests of towering redwoods. If its mountains you want, the mighty Sierra Nevadas are just a couple of hours to the east.
