Myrtle Beach Weather

Myrtle Beach is a year-round holiday destination, with its southerly location ensuring plenty of sunshine throughout the year and attracting hordes of ‘snow birds’ in the winter months, who come in search of warmer climates. While the resort’s coastal situation brings milder weather than destinations farther inland, wintertime ocean breezes can swoop in from the Atlantic, meaning winter clothing attire is necessary in the cooler months.

Mild winters

Myrtle Beach never experiences snow thanks to its coastal location, and winters here are mild due to the southerly geographical location. As a popular winter retreat, with thousands of residents from colder regions stopping off here for a winter break, the winter season is a busy time to visit.

Hot summers

The long and hot Southern summers can be humid with an almost Caribbean climate this time of year; however, the ocean breezes ensure that things don’t become unbearable. Tropical air flows come in from the Bahamas and the Gulf of Mexico, bringing with them increased humidity.

The summer also experiences the highest rainfall, with August and September seeing the largest number of rainy days. Thunderstorms are quite common at this time and there is a risk of hurricanes, making it essential that visitors heed weather warnings.
