Myrtle Beach Transport
Although public transportation in Myrtle Beach is limited to local buses, trolleys and taxis, the transport system runs efficiently, getting you where you want to go. The traffic and driving etiquette here both have negative reputations, meaning you may find a rental car is only convenient for out-of-town trips.
By car
The roads in Myrtle Beach can get very busy, especially during the high season. The city boasts one of the highest accident rates in the state, and driving can be inhospitable when the roads are busy, with traffic jams being common. As a rule, the interstates as well as the main roads that run parallel to the beach are normally faster moving, making planning your car journeys a wise move.
By bus
Local Coastal Rapid Transit buses provide transport around Myrtle Beach and to nearby beach areas. Services are regular and inexpensive, making travelling by local bus a good way to get around. More information on schedules and routes can be obtained by calling: +1 843 626 9138. Alternatively, there is a trolley service that runs from Ocean Boulevard to Broadway, although this service is seasonal and only in operation from March to October.
Taxis
Taxis are ready available around Myrtle Beach and can be hailed in the road; however, it is more common to pre-book a taxi by telephone. Taxis commonly wait for passengers outside major hotels and entertainment districts, with it usually being easy to find a ride home from Barefoot Landing or Broadway at the Beach. Taxis operate by meter, with additional charges for luggage and night-time service.
From the airport
Myrtle Beach International Airport’s proximity to the city centre makes it an easy journey to your hotel. With many of the most popular accommodation choices within a five mile radius, you can reach your accommodation with ease and speed. Local buses operate from outside the Arrivals Hall, connecting passengers with the beachfront, while taxis are also on-hand for door-to-door transportation. Some reputable hotels offer a courtesy pick up for guests; check with your accommodation establishment at the time of booking.
