A charming, subtropical city and the only port city in the state, Mobile in Alabama is part southern, part Cajun and wholly unique. Transportation to Mobile

Most tourists choose to arrive here by air. Mobile Regional Airport is the main airport in Mobile. At 18kms west of the business area, it is served by several airlines providing non-stop flights to several cities in the southeastern United States.

Alternatively, you can also use rail and bus services and arrive in Mobile in the city centre. By car, I-10 and I-65 intersect Mobile. Only minutes from the intersection, you will find Mobile city centre.

What to see

Mobile boasts all kinds of tourist attractions to suit every interest. Those into museums can find many choices to visit including Fort Conde Museum, with its many interesting exhibitions on history and the Civil War, and Mobile Museum of Art, the largest art museum along the Gulf Coast from New Orleans to Tampa.

Childrens destinations are also plenty here. Those travelling with youngsters should head to the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center, the IMAX Theater and the Mobile Zoo.

Daytrips

Making a daytrip out of Mobile is fun and easy. Within an easy driving distance, you can dip into the clearest waters of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. Enjoy romantic walks at dusk at Perdido Point and Cotton Bayou at Orange Beach or find one of the many open pavilions and picnic areas at Gulf Shores.

Activities and leisure

There many things to do in Mobile despite it being a low-key attraction. Active tourists will find their agenda packed with all kinds of activities such as swimming, kayaking, fishing, picnicking and golfing. Seafood junkies will particularly love Mobile as it offers all kinds of fresh seafood venues. A variety of mouthwatering desserts will also please those with a sweet tooth.

Safety issues

Even though Mobile is considered quite safe for tourists, you should still be on guard at all times. Known for its many popular festivals, Mobile can be swarming with pickpockets, so keep an eye on your belongings in crowded areas. Participating in outdoor sports can also put you at risk.
