Things to do in Maui

With its wide beaches, breathtaking mountaintop vistas and many beautiful parks, Maui makes a favourite tourist spot for those into adventure and nature. Whether you want to relax on gold sandy beaches, picnic in one of the lovely state parks or swim from dawn until dusk in a charming natural pool, Maui has something that will please everyone in the family.

Ka'anapali Beach

A vibrant and very happening beach, Ka'anapali, located on the western shore of Maui in Lahaina, is Maui's equivalent of Waikiki Beach. There are plenty of shops and restaurants serving mouth-watering fresh seafood dishes. The sand is warm and gold, while the water is a clear blue shade. The main landmark is the Black Rock, which is a popular jumping point and a favourite spot for local daredevils and brave tourists.

Banyan Tree Park

One of the major landmarks in Maui, this 100-year-old tree stands majestically in the downtown area of Lahaina, showing off its 12 trunks and more than a hundred branches to visitors. Many tourists make a trip to Lahaina especially to witness this gigantic tree. If you are lucky, you might spot local boys swinging from one branch to another.

Makena State Park

If you are into extreme sports like bodysurfing or easy-going activities like swimming and sunbathing, you must visit Makena State Park, where endless golden sandy beaches stretch out to welcome visitors. Big Beach is a famous spot for water sports enthusiasts, while its sister, Little Beach, a world-renowned nudist beach, is no less popular.

505 Front Street

Visit this unique mall, built in the New England style and located on the charming Front Street. Front Street has more to offer than just shops and boutiques. It also serves as a famous residence for sea turtle. Many turtles lay their nests in the sand just steps from the mall, and you can witness the spectacular sight of a nestling while wandering around in galleries, surf shops, day spas and a variety of restaurants.

Ali'i Kula Lavender

This beautiful garden is a favourite spot for tea or lunch, where you can enjoy your meal amid aromatic scents and pretty flowers. An ideal place for those who want to escape from the beaches and who wish to take a break from shopping scenes, this lavender farm also offers scrumptious lavender-infused dishes. The owners provide impressive tours through paths of therapeutic lavender varieties and other kinds of plants such as proteas, succulents and fascinating Maui wormwood. On the way out, dont forget to stop by the gift shop, which boasts a number of excellent souvenirs and lavender products. Website: http://www.aliikulalavender.com/.

You can spend a whole day here and relax or join in fun activities with your little ones.

Iao Needle

One of the most famous sites in Maui, Iao Needle is a lush green mountain peak of Iao Valley, which offers fabulous views of the city. If you are too lazy to climb up to the peak, you can also enjoy many picnic spots at the base of the valley, while those who feel too hot can jump into a natural water pool. Pack your lunch and prepare to unwind yourself in this idyllic park.
