Be Safe in Maui

As Maui is one of the most touristy spot in Hawaii, it is not a good idea to bring valuable things along with you, as there have been reports of pick-pocketing around the centre of town. Those who aren’t used to swimming in the sea should stay close to the lifeguards. If you wish to hike in a national park or rainforest, make sure you wear a long sleeved t-shirt and trouser, as there are many insects that can be harmful to trekkers.

Safety

If you want to swim in the ocean, make sure you have company with you. There are lifeguards on duty on almost all the beaches from 08:00 to 17:30. Take a look at the signs post on each beach for warnings of strong currents, shark sightings, jelly fish, sudden drop-offs and sharp coral, so you know how to protect yourself.

Health

Tourists who are not used to strong sun should carry a bottle of water at all times. Weak swimmers should only swim at beaches where there are lifeguards that watch over from their towers.

Travel insurance

Maui is a great place for water sports, exploring exquisite beaches or just simply relaxing amid a tranquil atmosphere and listening to the waves. However, unexpected incidents sometimes happen and can ruin your perfectly planned holiday.

Taking out travel insurance for you and your family is highly recommended and is an excellent way to make sure that you aren’t left short should something misfortunate occur.
