Seven Sacred Pools
Also known as Oheo Gulch, this spot is usually crowed at weekends and during school breaks, as it is a large natural playground and an ideal place for a family day out. There are series of lovely pools and waterfalls where visitors can enjoy cliff-jumping, swimming and picnicking. It is also believed that those who swim in each pool will be blessed with wealth and good fortune.
Maui Ocean Center
Maui Ocean Center is a must-visit place if you want to learn more about marine species in the Pacific Ocean. Be amazed at a variety of thousands of fascinating underwater creatures and walk in the tunnel, boasting a 240-degree view of marine life in a 750,000-gallon open ocean tank. Sugar Cane Train
Those travelling with kids should take a ride in the fun Sugar Cane Train, which takes visitors around Maui. You can admire the beauty of the island and listen to a knowledgeable conductor telling interesting stories about Maui. The trip starts from Lahaina and goes to Puukolii and back.
Water sports
Water sport buffs can find many things to do here. At Lahaina harbour, you can enjoy snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing and parasailing. If you have time, go on a whale-watching trip while sipping on exotic cocktails. The north shore offers a variety of extreme sports like surfing, kite-boarding and windsurfing.
Golf
Many golfers, both amateur and professional, flock to Maui for some of the most breathtaking and challenging golf courses in the world. Most of the courts boast ocean views and charming valleys, with holes running across small bays and lush, green mountains. Plenty of resorts offer ultimate private golf courses, but there are also public ones. Kapulua Resort is probably the best-known golf resort, which makes for a relaxing outing for everyone in the family.
Hiking
Maui features a number of hiking trails for hiking enthusiasts. The island is filled with all kinds of flowers and plants such as orchids, ginger, heliconia and hibiscus. Hungry hikers can find many exotic fruits in the rainforest like strawberry, guava, mountain apple and thimbleberry. If you are lucky, you might be able to spot some of the island’s rarest plants, birds and insects like honeycreepers and happy-faced spiders.
One of the most popular trails is in the Haleakala National Park and Crater, which is known as the best hiking on the island and is equipped with two camping areas and three cabins. Halekala Crater is also an ideal place to watch the sunrise.
