Las Vegas Weather

Las Vegas’ climate is typical of the Mojave Desert, in which it is located, marked with hot summers, mild winters, abundant sunshine year-round and very little rainfall. In the height of summer, during July and August, the mercury often soars above 38°C (100°F). For cooler weather in Las Vegas, come between the months of October and February. Winters are cool and windy, with the majority of Las Vegas’ average annual rainfall of 107mm (4.2 inches) falling from January to March.

Summer

If you are looking for hot weather, come any time from March to September. Summers are hot and very dry. The highest temperatures are common in the months from May to September, normally exceeding 38°C (100°F), with most days in July and August experiencing low humidity. Las Vegas summers also sometimes have late afternoon thunderstorms that move in from Mexico. The average July temperature is 34°C (94°F).

Winter

Las Vegas winters are cool, bringing winds and cold nights, with daytime highs of around 16°C (60°F) and chilly nights averaging 4°C (40°F). Although winter snow is usually visible from December to May on the mountains surrounding Las Vegas, it rarely snows in the city itself. Las Vegas has an average January temperature of 8°C (46°F).
