Options for getting around Indianapolis are exceedingly limited and those visitors not wishing to hire a car are at the mercy of the unreliable public bus service or the relatively expensive taxis. Taxis

Taxis need to be booked ahead or hired from official taxi ranks in the city of Indianapolis as hailing them in the street is not the norm and attempts to do so will invariably be ignored by drivers. From the airport

From Indianapolis International Airport, visitors can reach the downtown area via the scheduled city bus service or by taxi limousine, hotel shuttle or rental vehicle.
