Fort Myers Transport

Getting around the city of Fort Myers is an easy enough affair, thanks to the excellent public transport system provided by LeeTran in conjunction with Lee County. Services are geared to appeal to both visitors and tourists alike, with stops made at popular and strategic destinations. Walking in the city is a pleasant enough way to get around if you are only going short distances, but temperatures in the hot season will prevent you from going too far. Taxis are readily available for those shy of public transport and looking for convenient door-to-door transportation.

By bus

Bus services in and around Fort Myers are operated by LeeTran, a company wholly owned by the Lee County Government. The Fort Myers Beach Trolley Service is the main service, providing connections to destinations within the city limits. Services call at: Summerlin Square, Bowditch Park, Times Square, Lani Kai, Santini Plaza, Lovers Key and Bonita Springs. Throughout the week, trolleys run from 06:30 to 21:25.

Taxis

Taxis can be flagged down for service or booked by telephone, with the latter option a safer bet if you have a strict schedule to adhere to. Fares are not especially cheap and budget travellers might prefer to use the Fort Myers Beach Trolley Service.

From the airport

A bus service operates once an hour connecting the airport with Daniels parkway, from where the large network of LeeTran bus services can be accessed. Reputable hotels often provide shuttles to transport passengers with bookings from the airport to their establishments. Taxis are also on hand for journeys to downtown Fort Myers and other destinations.
