Daytona Beach is internationally renowned for its motor racing and draws visitors in their thousands to catch the thrills of its frequent live events. The International Speedway is the focal point for all racing activity and the city’s most significant sporting venue.

Motor Racing

The Daytona 500 is the biggest event in the city’s motor racing calendar and sees competitors take on a mighty 200 laps of the circuit covering a distance of 500 miles. The event is televised and broadcast around the world giving the city a major international profile. Aside from the Daytona 500, other significant racing events include the NASCAR series, the Daytona 200 Superbike and the Rolex 24 Hours.

Team sports

If motor sports are not your thing then Daytona also has a number of minor league sports teams such as the Daytona Cubs Baseball team and the Daytona Beach Thunder indoor football team. Visitors are always welcome to watch and its often a great way to spend a day.

The Emry Riddle Eagle Athletics meanwhile have a number of teams representing a variety of sports including Basketball, Cross Country, Soccer, Track and Volleyball. Fitness centres

Visitors wanting to participate in sporting activities as opposed to spectating have limited options. Gyms and fitness centres are readily available however many require membership in order to gain access to their facilities. Reputable hotels invariably offer their own fitness centres which are available for guests residing at their establishments.
