Dallas Leisure

As a city with a humid, sub-tropical climate, outdoor activities abound in Dallas. Dallas has a surprising number of amusement and water parks, ranches and rodeos, wildlife centres and other outdoor activities that are fun for both adults and children. The city is also home to six professional sports teams: Dallas Cowboys football team; Texas Rangers baseball team; Dallas Mavericks basketball team; Dallas Stars hockey team; Dallas Burn outdoor soccer team; and the Dallas Sidekicks indoor soccer team.

Golf

Dallas is home to over 30 golf courses of different sizes, lengths and descriptions. Many of the golf courses are located in and around central Dallas, or are just a short drive from the city. Green times at golf courses in the area may need to be reserved in advance, and we recommend you phone ahead to avoid possible disappointment.

Also, a number of the Dallas golf courses have a dress code, which normally includes no t-shirts or denim jeans. The PGA Byron Nelson Classic, named after a local legend, has been held in Dallas for the past three decades every May. Check out some of the top names in professional golf at the Four Seasons Resort and Club.

Rodeo

The Cowtown Coliseum is home to the world’s first indoor rodeo. Located in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards, it has a rich history steeped in rodeo and the West. The Cowtown Coliseum offers modern amenities, yet retains the atmosphere of an historic site. Spectators can sit in air-conditioned comfort and view the best in rodeo and Western action. The Mesquite Rodeo area was built in 1986 and can seat 5,000 spectators. The Mesquite Rodeo is one of the best indoor rodeos in the Metroplex. Rodeo season is from April to October.
