Getting to Dallas
Visitors destined for Dallas can choose from a variety of options for getting here, with arriving by air being the most popular means for those coming from abroad. The road network is well-developed, making driving by private or hire car a good option and also providing good conditions for coach services coming from North American cities. The city is also served by the efficient Amtrak railway network.
Dallas International Airport is a busy facility that provides connections with domestic cities as well as with significant EU and international destinations. The airport is operated by Dallas and Fort Worth municipalities, and is one of the largest airports in the world.
By car
Dallas is surrounded by a huge system of interstate highways, making it easily accessible. Interstate 30 leads into downtown from the northeast, while I-20 approaches from both the east and the west. Interstate 45 leads into Dallas from Houston in a southeastern path and I-35 goes past the city from the north and south.
By rail
Dallas’ train station is located at 400 Houston Street and provides connections to and from major US destinations. From Chicago, the journey can be made by train in 22 hours; from Oklahoma City, 1 hour, 35 minutes; while from San Antonio, it takes 10 hours. By bus
Dallas is connected to the extensive Greyhound coach network, which serves most major US destinations. The main bus terminal is at 205 South Lamar Street.

By air
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is located 17 miles from the centre of the city and is a modern facility, offering daily scheduled flights to and from a large number of US, EU and international destinations. The airport offers excellent passenger facilities including ATMs, bureaux de change and information desks.
Train services run at regular intervals between the airport and Dallas Union Station, calling at South Irving and Market Center. Meanwhile, taxis are on hand, as are car hire companies.
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport
DFW airport operates five terminals with two levels, from which all arrivals and departures are dealt with. The lower level handles arrivals, while the upper level handles departures. Flights operate daily to cities such as Frankfurt, London and Paris. ATMs and dining facilities can be found in all terminals on both levels, while currency exchange services are located in Terminal D at gates D11 and D24, and at the International Re-Check Area. Passengers in need of assistance will find information desks at Terminal B and Terminal D, near the Baggage Claim areas.
Dallas-Fort Worth airport transportation
The TRE links downtown Dallas Union Station and downtown Fort Worth’s T&P Station with CentrePort/DFW Airport Station from Monday through Saturday. The airport’s free Remote South shuttle bus service provides continuous connections between the station and the airline terminals. Taxi service is available on the upper level of each terminal. For assistance, please locate the Airport Ground Transportation employee, who will be wearing a white airport shirt.
DFW’s 200-acre Rental Car Center consolidates 10 rental car companies under one roof, giving customers the comfort and convenience of one-stop shopping. It is located near the south entrance of DFW airport. After collecting your baggage, follow the ‘Rental Car’ signs to the designated pick-up area on the lower level of the terminal. From there, board the Rental Car shuttle bus, which serves all rental car companies, departing every 5 minutes and reaching the Rental Car Center in about 10 minutes.
