Columbus Restaurants

There is no shortage of places to eat in Columbus and its surrounding suburbs, but if you're looking for top quality restaurants, then you may be disappointed with some of the dining choices on offer. There are the usual American burger and steakhouse restaurants in the city centre. All the normal fast-food restaurants and international chains can be found everywhere you look, although most of them can't be recommended as they are unmemorable.

Fortunately, you'll also find some excellent, upscale restaurants as well as a good choice of ethnic cuisine. Italian, French, Chinese and Thai restaurants are common throughout the city.

Where to eat

The independent neighbourhood establishments provide some of the best dining options in Columbus. The German Village is crammed with places to eat including one of the city's most well-known establishments, Schmidt's Restaurant and Sausage Haus. The Short North also has an abundance of bistros, snack bars and the occasional stylish restaurant.

For a wide range of ethnic and organic snacks during the day, try the North Market in the downtown area at 59 Spruce Street. The market also has a large choice of fresh produce. Brewery district features seasonal microbrew beers and typical pub fare including favourites such as tamarind-glazed chicken wings and hot and sour calamari.
