Be Safe in Cleveland

Cleveland is by and large a safe city for tourists and visitors won’t feel threatened or intimidated when walking the streets during the day or in the evening. However, as with anywhere, the city has its fair share of criminals and undesirable elements, and following some basic courses of action can ensure that you don’t fall victim to them.

Safety

Travel within Ohio is generally trouble-free; however, travellers should be aware that the US shares with the rest of the world a threat of terrorist incidents. Security has been heightened, particularly at airports, following the counter terrorist operation in the UK on 10 August 2006; while the terror alert status on all flights has been raised, particularly on those originating in the UK. Further restrictions on hand luggage are in effect and travellers are advised to check on the latest situation with airlines in advance.

Travellers should also be aware of the dangers of car and street crime in cities, and should use common sense and take basic safety measures. Southern USA is prone to hurricanes between June and November.
