Cincinnati Restaurants

Cincinnati offers more award-winning restaurants and dining venues per person than any other city in America. Due to its German heritage, Cincinnati is literally brimming with pubs and taverns serving a range of pub grub. There are numerous restaurants offering fine dining options as well as many that offer cuisine from around the world.

Where to eat

Mount Adams is home to most of the city’s expensive restaurants and some top-class menus are available, although at a price. Downtown is full of many cheap eateries including food courts that serve up a range of delights, while the Coryville district is home to trendy cafés that attract an arty crowd.

There are many fast-food outlets and restaurant chains dotted across the entire city, and if you want to opt for Oriental or Mediterranean specialities, they can be found in clusters downtown and in the affluent areas of Hyde Park or Pill Hill.

Local cuisine

The city of Cincinnati is particularly famous for its chilli-con-carne, especially its popular three-way chilli, which combines spaghetti, chilli and cheddar cheese. Traditional American breakfasts are popular, as are meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, bagels and pancakes.

German cuisine is also very popular, with many traditional German dishes on the menu. Favourites include bratwurst (German sausage), sauerkraut (pickled cabbage), flädlesuppe (broth with thin strips of German-style pancakes) and schweinebraten (pot-roasted pork).
