Charlotte Weather

The city of Charlotte has a moderate climate, with hot, humid weather over the summer months and mild winters, which make it a popular holiday destination.

Summer

Summers are hot, and the hottest month of the year is July, when temperatures can reach above 32°C. Unlike cities to the south though, very hot weather conditions happen only 36 days in Charlotte compared to 81 days in Jacksonville, Florida and 83 days in Houston.

Winter

Winter in Charlotte is warm with a quite mild climate, and January is the coolest month of the year. Daytime temperatures in January are around 10°C, though temperatures can fall to 0°C.

Snow is rare, with an average annual snowfall of less than six inches, but Charlotte is only 2 hours drive from excellent snow skiing in the North Carolina Mountains, meaning visitors can enjoy the snow, without having to be in it constantly. The area is in the hurricane zone, and is occasionally visited by tornadoes and the odd blizzard.
