Be Safe in Charlotte
Charlotte is generally a safe city for tourists and you won’t feel threatened or intimidated when walking the streets during the day or in the evening. However, as with anywhere, the city comes with its fair share of criminals and undesirables, and following some basic courses of action can make sure that you don’t fall victim to them.
Safety
Travel within North Carolina is by and large trouble-free; however, travellers should be aware that the US, along with the rest of the world, shares the threat of terrorist incidents. Security has been increased, particularly at airports, following the counter terrorist operation in the UK on 10 August 2006; and the terror alert status on all flights has been raised, particularly on those originating in the UK. Further limitations on hand luggage are in effect and travellers are advised to check on the latest situation with airlines in advance.
Travellers should also be aware of the dangers of car and street crime in cities, and should use common sense and take basic safety measures. Southern USA is prone to hurricanes between June and November, and weather warnings must be heeded.
