Charlotte Transport

It is possible to walk around Charlotte's Uptown, and buses are sufficient for getting around within the city limits; otherwise, you will require a car to tour neighbouring areas.

By train

The train station in Charlotte is not designed to provide cross-city connections and visitors will find services to destinations beyond Charlotte only.

By bus

Center City Circuit runs a free shuttle service throughout Uptown on weekdays, beginning at 07:00. Look for the Uptown Circuit street signs. The local mass transit is operated by the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), offering more than 40 routes of express shuttles and bus services in Charlotte and its neighbouring suburbs.

Taxis

Taxis are available throughout the area for both short trips and for longer guided tours. Two-hour tours are regularly enjoyed by tourists as a way to first get acquainted with the area as well as for touring the major local tourist attractions. It should be noted that taxis are not metered; however, fares are standardised throughout the area and regulated by a governing board. From the airport

A public city bus departs every hour to downtown Charlotte, leaving from the east end of the upper Ticketing level of the terminal. Customers can pre-arrange shuttle service by contacting one of the various providers posted on the Visitor Information boards located in Baggage Claim.

Limousines, limousine sedans and contract van services are available by pre-arrangement between passengers and service providers. Taxi service is available kerb side, on the Baggage Claim level. An attendant is on duty from 06:45 to 00:15. All vehicle rental counters are located on the lower Baggage Claim level.
