Things to do in Boulder

Boulder is a town that prides itself on innovation and living in harmony with the surrounding natural environment. Many of the attractions are based in the foothills and mountains, which literally butt up against the edge of town. Downtown Boulder is the highlight of the urban environment, with its charming shopping districts, stately Victorian homes and integrated pathways that follow the local creek. The best thing about Boulder is its balance between a pleasant small town and the stunning mountain scenery. Spend the day hiking a trail, then come back to town for a locally-brewed beer and an elk steak.

Boulder Creek Path

This fantastic corridor of nature is a vital component to Boulders lifestyle, and it really sums up the towns entire philosophy about urban planning. The 16-mile paved path follows the clean and clear Boulder Creek through the downtown area and westwards into the mountains. With no street crossings, the path provides the ideal way to get around town on foot or by bicycle. At the weekends, youll see numerous walkers, joggers, cyclists and in-line skaters enjoying the freedom of urban exercise. The path cuts through several city parks before terminating at Four Mile Canyon, which is a gateway into the Rocky Mountains.

The turn-of-the-century homes that permeate the streets around the business district are even more charming. The towering leafy maples and cottonwoods that shade the streets make for a wonderful stroll. For some initial guidance, historic Boulder sells guides for seven self-guided walking tours of the area.
