Austin Weather

Austin’s climate is classified as being humid and subtropical, and it is usually associated with hot summers and mild winters. Over 33 inches of rain falls each year, with most of the precipitation falling during the spring and autumn months.

Summer days in Austin are hot and relatively humid, with temperatures generally averaging around 32°C between June and September. However, temperatures can occasionally climb to highs of 38°C.

The winter months are generally mild and dry in comparison. Temperatures rarely drop to freezing and snowfall is very uncommon, typically occurring only once a year at most.

When to visit

Austin is an attractive city to visit at any time of the year and it has over 300 days of sunshine annually. The most pleasant times to arrive are autumn and spring, when the weather is warm and sunny during the day and pleasantly cool or mild during the evening.

July and August can occasionally become uncomfortably hot for those not used to high temperatures and this time of year also sees the highest levels of rainfall. Winters are generally mild and pleasant, with January being the coldest month. While frost and snow aren’t common, daytime temperatures in January can occasionally dip to 4°C.
