Annapolis Weather

Annapolis has a warm temperate climate, with hot summers and chilly winters. Spring and autumn can see mixed weather conditions, but are usually the best times to see the countryside. Rainfall is constant throughout the year and the wettest months are July and August.

Variable seasons

The city is located close to water, making it a little damper and milder than other parts of Maryland. The summer months of June, July and August are pleasant and warm, with average temperatures of 25C. This is the main tourist season and the streets are usually packed with visitors and families. Evenings can still be chilly as the wind comes in from the sea and cools the air.

Although rainfall can be expected throughout the year, it tends to be heaviest during the busy summer months. Make sure you pack some wet-weather clothing.

Winters are usually cold and icy, and not the best time for visiting. January is the coldest month and temperatures regularly dip to below freezing. Maryland experiences a fair amount of snow during the winter; however, Annapolis has a more temperate climate due to its location near the water.
