Anchorage Airport Hotels

Anchorage International Airport is located a short drive from the city, and access is easy, but there are still some good accommodation options for those who need to be close to the airport.

Which hotel?

The Millennium Alaskan hotel is just one mile from the airport and is an excellent standard hotel. The hotel is located in a beautiful lakeside setting, with comfortable rooms, a 24-hour health centre with steam room and sauna, a business centre, high-speed internet in all rooms and they also have a free airport shuttle bus that operates 24 hours.

The Courtyard Marriott is another good option, located just a mile from the airport. The hotel has excellent facilities and comfortable rooms, as you would expect from the hotel chain. There is free high-speed internet access in all rooms and wireless internet in the lobby areas. They have a fitness centre with a swimming pool and whirlpool as well as business facilities and a good restaurant with an excellent buffet breakfast.

Where to stay

Anchorage is a relatively small, compact city, so most of the main hotels are well-located for accessing the city’s sights and attractions. Anchorage has a good range of hotels to suit all styles and budgets, and it also has camping areas in and around the city, which are popular during the mild summers. If you camp out of the city, remember to take advice and follow precautions about avoiding problems with black or brown bears.

The main hotels tend to be focuses on the area around Spenard avenue or in the downtown and midtown areas. In recent years, there has been a number of large hotel chains opening in Anchorage, offering comfortable rooms and good services.

For those visiting in the winter months, Girdwood, some 40 miles south of Anchorage via the Seward and Alyeska highways, is a ski-resort style town set in a pleasant mountain setting.
