The hotels in Albuquerque offer a comfortable, homey mix of modern conveniences and Old West style. There’s a wide selection of accommodation, ranging from truly threadbare motels, which look like they stepped out of an Elmore James novel, to restored Victorian-era inns. One great thing about Albuquerque is that prices are always affordable, even during the busy seasons.

Where to stay

Albuquerque’s hotels are evenly scattered throughout the city, meaning you can find both budget motels and modern chain hotels in every area. The highest concentration of accommodation can be found in the city centre, San Felipe neighbourhood and along busy Central Avenue Northeast. The city has a wealth of mid-range chain hotels, many of which are located on San Antonio boulevard, Louisiana boulevard and in San Felipe. Luxury hotels tend to cluster around Tijeras Northwest and Marquette Northwest, where you can find fully-equipped five-star resorts.

When to visit

There’s really no bad time to visit Albuquerque. Christmas is a wonderful season in New Mexico, thanks to the amazing mix of Hispanic and Native American traditions. Most people come during the summer and early autumn, when most of the ceremonial dances take place at the many Native American villages around the area. Albuquerque’s world-famous balloon festival in October is perhaps the single busiest period during the year. Hotels will be booked solid during this spectacle, so make your reservations well in advance if you plan to visit during one of the city’s highlighed events.
