Acapulco Restaurants
As is the case with all the Mexican beach destinations where international tourism has boomed, Acapulco has plenty of restaurants, bars and discotheques, each one with its own style, offering special dishes and features which make them worthy of recommendation.
Local cuisine
Most of the food in Mexico is eaten with your hands. If you prefer to eat with a knife and fork, it's not an offence, but it's very interesting to try the local customs. With Acapulco so near to the sea, seafood features prominently in the city’s local cuisine. Some dishes worth sampling include: ceviche (fish or shellfish marinated in lime and tossed with onions, tomatoes, cilantro and spiced with green chillies), pozole (a soup made with hominy, beef broth, pork and chicken), enchiladas (rolled corn tortillas filled with chicken, beef, or seafood), sopes or chalupas (flat cakes made with tortilla dough, refried beans, cabbage and cream) and tamales (steamed cornmeal wrapped in corn husks and filled with beef).
Where to eat
There are restaurants to be found in the hotel area as well as in the city centre. The latter area tends to be more reasonably priced, and mostly specialises in seafood or local cuisine. In the state of Guerrero, the traditional food is rather hot and spicy. Be aware of this when ordering your food and don't overdo it.
