Getting to Winnipeg
Getting to Winnipeg is easy, with many transport options available.
Winnipeg has a major airport, with connections to many major North American destinations, and there is even a direct air service to London. Greyhound buses arrive from all over North America. Trains are particularly suitable for the vast distances and connect much of the country as well as some US destinations.
By car
North America has an excellent road network, but be aware that distances are enormous. The number 1 Trans Canada Highway connects Winnipeg in easterly and westerly directions, providing access to many of the country's urban centres. The Manitoba Number 75 provides travel to the south, connecting with US Interstate 29.
By rail
Travelling by train is a great way to experience the enormous expanse of Canada. Trains are modern and comfortable, and offer great service. Winnipeg’s Via Rail Station on Main Street serves the city and provides connections to and from major Canadian destinations as well as from some major cities in the US. From Toronto, the journey can be made by train in 32 hours, while from Churchill, it takes 23 hours, 30 minutes. By bus
The largest interstate coach operator is Greyhound, which offers services to all Canadian destinations and connects to the US Greyhound network. The main coach terminal in Winnipeg is located on Portage Avenue, across from the university.

By air
Winnipeg Airport is located only eight kilometres from the centre of the city and is a modern facility offering daily scheduled flights to and from a large number of Canadian and US destinations as well as a regular service to London, UK.
To get to the airport, there are regular bus and shuttle services from Winnipeg city centre. Meanwhile, taxis are on hand, as are car hire companies.

The airport offers good passenger facilities including ATMs, bureaux de change and information desks as well as dining facilities. Parking is provided for, with both economy and premium parking facilities available. There are two parking lots and rates are staggered according to the length of time you park your vehicle for. Hourly, daily and weekly rates are available.
Winnipeg airport transportation
Regular buses run every 20 minutes from outside the terminal to Winnipeg city centre. Catch the Sargent number 15 bus and pay the regular fare on the bus. Major hotels provide shuttle services to and from the airport.
Alternatively, taxis and limousines can be found outside Entrance 1 and Entrance 6. Signs displaying estimated fares to various parts of Winnipeg are posted at the kerb side on either side of these entrance doors. The car rental counters are located on the main floor of the Administration Building.
