Whistler Transport

Whistler Village is a pedestrianised village that is easy to walk around. There are many paths and trails around Whistler and the village. It is uncommon not to walk in Whistler, as everything is so close.

A free village shuttle is available, which operates in and around Whistler Village at regular intervals. There are also several neighbourhoods that have accommodation that is not within walking distance of Whistler Village. For these places, there is a transit system that operates regularly. Taxicabs are also readily available throughout the resort.

By bus

The Whistler and Valley Express (WAVE) is the local transit system that provides service throughout Whistler. This includes free shuttle buses in Whistler Village and the Upper Village. A free shuttle runs from the village to Marketplace (Village North) and to the Upper Village loop, servicing Blackcomb Mountain base lodge. The number 5 bus takes you around the main village, while the number 6 bus takes you around Upper Village only.

Buses run from 05:30 to 03:00 every day and are equipped with ski racks (and bike racks in summer). Limited services have now been extended to Pemberton and Mount Currie. Passes are for sale at a variety of outlets in denominations of one-day or 30-day passes or 5, 10 or 20-ride Wave cards. Taxis

Several taxi companies service the main Whistler area and its immediate surroundings. The services are reliable and operate all day and all night, year-round. Most companies charge a flat fee for transportation to and from Vancouver Airport.

Whistler also has a limousine service that provides transportation services to and from the airport as well as to anywhere else a passenger could possibly need to go. The limousine service is similar to a taxi service, but the automobiles used are usually larger and more comfortable than a taxi cab. Tourist services

If you have only a day to explore the backcountry of southern British Columbia, don't miss the Whistler Explorer. For centuries, the canyons, mountain meadows and lakes of the area between Whistler and Kelly Lake were inaccessible to all but the most experienced hikers. The Whistler Explorer offers a leisurely way to see this remote landscape.

Departing from the Whistler Train Station on Lake Placid road at 08:00, the Explorer take sightseers on an 8-hour, 30-minute round-trip through the spectacular Pemberton Valley and past Seton Lake and Anderson Lake. After leaving the historic town of Lillooet, the train follows the Fraser River, climbing high above the canyon and offering breathtaking views before arriving at Kelly Lake, which is next to the historic Cariboo Gold Rush Trail. After a 1-hour break, passengers re-board the train, returning to Whistler at 17:30.

From the airport

Ground transportation options from Vancouver International Airport include shuttle and public buses, taxis and hire cars. The Airporter provides bus services every 15 minutes to major hotel destinations in downtown Vancouver, Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal and the bus depot and train station. Bus services to Vancouver, Richmond and beyond originate at the Airport Station Bus Terminal, located near the Delta Hotel.

Airport Station and the airport are connected by bus route 424, which picks up and drops off passengers at the ground level of the Domestic Terminal. Several public transportation bus routes service the Airport Station Bus Terminal including the 98 B line and route 496, which connect to downtown Vancouver.

The Whistler Express provides bus services to the resort municipality of Whistler, its village and the Whistler/Blackcomb Mountains. The Whistler Express bus can be caught from the International Arrivals and Domestic Arrivals level kerb. Tickets may be purchased at the Whistler Express counter, pickup locations or on the coach.

Car rental facilities are conveniently located just steps from the terminal, on the ground floor of the parkade. Taxis are readily available outside both the Domestic and International terminals.
