Ottawa Transport

While Ottawa does not have a varied selection of transportation available, the city is very compact and many of its highlights can easily be reached on foot. The downtown area can be comfortably covered on a walking tour, while for those destinations a little further afield, the efficient public bus service operated by OC Transpo provides the most economical option for getting around. Taxis are of course on hand, while for those wanting a little more freedom, cars can also be rented from a number of dealers.

By bus

Bus services operated by OC Transpo constitute the city’s only public transportation option, although the network is extensive and covers a large percentage of the city’s total area, ensuring visitors can easily get around to see the city’s sights. Schedules differ depending on the route in question; however, most services start before 06:00 and conclude between midnight and 01:00; some routes also operate night services. Routes are split into colour schemes with ‘black routes’ comprising the regular services that run all day long.

Taxis

Taxis are readily available throughout Ottawa and can be hired kerbside or by telephone. Tourist services

From the airport

From Ottawa International Airport, passengers can take the airport’s hotel shuttle service, the city’s public bus service or a taxi. Alternatively, there are a number of car hire companies on hand at the airport offering vehicle rental services.
