Beirut Leisure

Beirut offers a good range of sporting and leisure activities for those looking to keep active on holiday. There are two great water parks, which are particularly popular with families, and an eco-tourist resort where you can take part in a number of adventure sports, as well as six first-class ski resorts.

Winter sports

It comes as a surprise to many people, but Lebanon has some fantastic opportunities for winter sports, and most of the resorts are just a short drive from Beirut. There are some excellent ski resorts and the rather unique possibility of following a morning's skiing with a relaxing swim in the Mediterranean in the afternoon.

There are six different ski resorts in the country, and five of them are less than an hour’s drive from the capital. The resorts cater to snowboarders and skiers of varying levels, and there are also options for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. The nearest resort to the capital is Zaarour, just 25 miles away.

Water parks

There are two good water parks in the surrounding area, offering fun days out for all the family. Splash Mountain is just over six miles from the city and is one of the most popular leisure activities, especially during the hot season. The park has water and tube slides, waterfalls, an adventure beach and two swimming pools. There are also basketball courts as well as some restaurants and cafés.

Slightly further up the coast is Waves Aqua Park, in Mar Roukoz, on a hill with fabulous views of the sea. Waves covers a vast area, with a huge variety of fun activities including riding along the 300m man-made river. There is also a good range of food and drink options here.

La Rserve

La Réserve is an eco-tourism resort in the mountains, just an hour’s drive from Beirut, with a range of outdoor and adventure activities for people of all ages. The resort is located in Mnaitra and spreads over a huge area with pine trees, apple and cherry orchards, and some beautiful natural springs. Every year, they have a range of summer camps for children aged between 6 and 15 years. The activities available here include: canoeing, caving, hiking, horseback riding, orienteering and mountain biking among others.
