Now that the city has fully recovered from the years of warfare, there is once again a thriving hotel industry in the city, with plenty of different styles to suit everyone. There are some superb international standard five-star hotels such as the Beirut InterContinental Hotel, but also plenty to chose from at the mid-range and budget level.

Where to stay

For the budget traveller, Talal’s New Hotel is one of the most popular, with a good range of rooms, from single bedrooms to dormitories. Private rooms have en suite bathrooms, and all rooms have balconies. They can arrange an airport pick up and the staff here are friendly and helpful. The hotel is also well-located for the Charles Helou bus station.

At the higher end, the Hotel Albergo is a wonderful place to stay for a few days. The hotel is located in the heart of old Beirut, just a short distance from the National Museum and other popular sights.
