York Weather

York is home to a typical UK/Western European climate with moderate summer temperatures, variable winds and intermittent showers of rain.

Spring and summer

Spring in York brings fairly mild weather during March, April and May, although some days may be rainy and windy. Many of the trees begin to bloom at this time of the year and Yorks parks and gardens are overflowing with spring colour. The summer months of June to September usually bring sunny and mild weather, even if mornings can also be cloudy and humid. Temperatures in summer typically range between 18 and 21C, and drop to around 11C at night.

Winter

Winters in York can be long and damp and November, December and January have only a few sunny days. November to January sees the coldest and wettest weather and even though snowfall is minimal, days can be frosty. Average maximum temperatures in December and January are 9C and 7C, respectively.
