Be Safe in Weymouth

Travelling to and in Weymouth is by and large very safe, although travellers are advised to keep an eye on their personal possessions in busy tourist areas, where pick-pocketing is sometimes reported.

Safety

Weymouth presents no obvious risks or annoyances to visitors who uses their common sense when out and about in the town or the surrounding countryside. Be sure not to excessively flaunt any valuable possessions such as watches, bracelets or mobile phones. Park your car in a well-lit and visible space when retiring for the night. For those wanting to participate in water sports, the Weymouth Beach Control Centre, first aid post, lost children centre and inshore lifeguard facility are operated by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution Beach Rescue. Services run between May and September with extra security provided by the Weymouth Canoe Lifeguards at weekends and bank holidays to guarantee visitors safety and comfort.

Health

Travelling to the UK is not connected with any particular health concerns and both food and water are safe to enjoy. The British National Health Service is first rate; visitors are able to get emergency treatment at no cost, but charges are imposed on regular medical care. Several countries have signed mutual health agreements with the UK including New Zealand, Australia and EU countries. Travellers from other countries (including South Africa, Canada and the US) are strongly advised to take out sufficient medical insurance.
