Poole Leisure

Poole's location next to the largest natural harbour in Europe means that it is a Mecca for water sports enthusiasts. One of the best ways to see the area is to take to the water and enjoy one of the many boat trips available. Brownsea Island Ferries have been operating for over 100 years and apart from the regular crossings to Brownsea, they also run a number of other trips including a cruise up the river Froom to Wareham, a visit to Swanage and the Jurassic Coast and a trip around the islands in the harbour. Alternatively, you can hire a boat and plan your own itinerary. Tower Park is one of the premier leisure spots in the southern England. You can find something for just about every member of the family all on the one site. The attractions on offer include a water park boasting 12 slides, a 30 lane bowling alley, a cinema with 10 screens, and Gala Bingo.

Water sports

Poole Harbour is a top location for watersports because it has sheltered and calm waters. It is one of the largest centres for sailing in the UK with many yacht clubs including Parkstone Yacht Club, Lilliput Sailing Club and Poole Yacht Club. Parkstone Yacht Club has recently been hosts of the OK World Championships as well as numerous large National Championships. Power boating is also well established with Grand Prix meetings taking place every year off the coast of Poole and Bournemouth. The water in the harbour is very shallow making it ideal for windsurfing. There are several schools in the town that can provide equipment and lessons.
