Newport Weather

The climate in Newport is a moderate temperate one, with the weather conditions rarely staying the same for a couple of days at a time. This Welsh city is one of the sunnier and warmer locations in Great Britain and its sheltered position tends to protect Newport from harsh weather. Like the British Isles, the city of Newport benefits from the pleasant warm effect of the Gulf Stream. Summers are warm and winters are cool.

Weather throughout the seasons

At any time of year, thunderstorms may occur intermittently, but they usually occur mostly throughout the late spring and summer months. There is rainfall throughout the year, with Atlantic storms bringing in heavy rainfall in the autumn, with a gradual decrease in these storms as the winter progresses. Recently, autumns and summers have often been the wettest seasons.

Snow falls most winters and it settles on the ground a number of times each winter, but most of the time, it is light and melts on-the-spot after a day or two. Frost is common from November to April.
