Newcastle Weather

Weather conditions in Newcastle are temperate, although considerably warmer than some other localities at similar latitudes because of the Gulf Stream's influence (via the North Atlantic drift). Due to being in the North Pennines rain shadow, Newcastle ranks as one of the driest cities in the United Kingdom, but the North Atlantic current ensures prevailing south-westerly winds.

Four seasons

The city's climate tends to stick to the usual UK norm of hot weather during the summer months and colder in the winter months, though expect to see snow as late on as March.

The best times to visit are spring and summer, when there are a greater number of sunny days and temperatures are warm. The weather starts to turn in September, with temperatures dropping and daylight hours diminishing. It can be positively cold in the winter months, with temperatures dropping to freezing and sometimes the arrival of snow.
