Guernsey Leisure

Being an island, Guernsey offers visitors great recreation options with water sports particularly popular in summer. There are even a few golf courses and other options include cycling and walking among the beautiful countryside.

Water sports

Guernseys location and mild climate make it a good place for beach recreation and water sports, especially swimming and sailing. Some the best beaches include lAncresse, Cobo, Petit Bt and Vazon Bay. Boat charters for fishing tours are also available. The Guernsey School of Diving/Sarnia Skin Divers organises diving excursions.

Golf

Guernsey is home to two 18-hole golf courses as well as one 9-hole course. La Grand De Mare 18-hole course, designed by Fred Hawtree, is especially suitable for novices and intermediate players. A handicap certificate from a recognised club is required by visitors. The islands other 18-hole course is located at the Royal Guernsey/LAncresse Golf Club in the north; again, visitors need to show a recent handicap certificate from a recognised club. The nine-hole course at St Pierre Park is great for putting practice; no handicap is required.

Other

Because of its small size, cycling around Guernsey is easy. Trips to the nearby islands of Herm and Sark can be made via regular ferry links. Walking tours are available throughout the Channel Islands and the trails along the cliffs offer striking scenery and stunning views. The Guernsey Tourist Board can assist with organising tours.
