Be Safe in Guernsey
Guernsey is a very safe holiday destination for visitors and when walking the streets during the day or at night, tourists wont feel in danger or threatened. However, as with anywhere, the island comes with its fair share of criminals and undesirable elements and its a good idea to stick to some basic courses of action to make sure that you dont fall victim to them.
Safety
Make sure to lock away all your valuables, passports, tickets, credit cards and money in the hotel safe. Its best to carry with you only those items you need for that day.
Be on your guard against pickpockets, particularly in tourist areas, on public transport, markets and so on. When leaving your car, make sure you do not leave anything visible. Visitors carrying handbags should wear them with the strap on the opposite shoulder to the hip it sits on, while those with backpacks are advised to wear them over both shoulders. In case of falling victim to theft, please make certain you receive a police report.

Health
Most doctors and dentists operate private practices and require patients to pay for any treatment by a general practitioner. This may be at a surgery, at a temporary residence or in the Accident and Emergency Department at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital (PEH), which is operated by the Board of Health, since these services are provided by general practitioners in private practice. Be aware that the Reciprocal Health Agreement only covers emergency treatment, such as treatment urgently needed for conditions which may come up during a stay. The act provides for free hospital accommodation and medical services to UK visitors. The ambulance service is also subject to a charge. We highly recommend travel insurance.
